I was waiting for a comment like this women wrote about her farm dog German Shepard. My choc lab is now 9 1/2, she starting getting mammary tumors 2 years ago. Shesnot spayed, has eaten a balanced raw diet since I got her at 4 mnths old., came with a first “set” of vaxxes from the breeder and never got rabies, only nososdes.
I’m 64 and have been an avid consumer of “natural only” with myself and my pets, treat with homeopathy and herbals and diet. In fact other than the breeders vet who gave the shots, my girl has never been to a vet. So like the woman with the GS I was(am) completely blind-sided and fearful about her tumors. In addition I have two younger female dogs I do not intend to spay. The only black mark on my girl is those vaxxes at 3 months old??
And BTW, I have had many cats/dogs in my lifetime, ALL were neutered! The reason I finally woke up with this dog is I lost my spayed 14 yr old blk lab 2 years ago to lymphoma! It was but- wrenching to say the least and I was ( and still am) completely committed to never neutering another dog.
Dr Falconer can you offer me any direction to help her with the mammary tumors? I simply cannot imagine giving her a radical surgery now. If you point me to something to research I will happily do it. Dogs Naturally Magazine has many articles about treating cancer ( if she’s in fact cancerous, tumors could also be benign) so there are several supplements I’m going to try.
