I've got a large dog with his "boxing apparatus" hanging on his chest; more towards his "belly button". I've always just left them alone, except now I think it "has" to come off. He's suffering back pain that isn't paralysis, but it's close. He's 76# and for 2 women suffering debilitating issues of our own, neither can lift even his buttocks off the ground since it's dead weight. *With that, comes urinating on himself (which we're not 24/7 avail) and thus gets on his "dangling dongle" which makes it seriously red and inflamed. We wipe it off of course, but it's still red and raw. **Can apply either a liquid gel of lidocaine every so often, or try to cover and wrap it with vet wrap and a moisture barrier of some sort, or see if the vet can try and drain it some? Or can he numb it really good and tie it off so it falls off on its own, or...???? Anything done will have to be at the house and not the clinic; in case that matters, as we've both hurt ourselves helping him, and have other pets besides him to care for. I don't care cost... only helping him.
