It's fine to start late, but we give them up till 9 months of age as that's when most immune systems in dogs come into maturity. There's a fuller preventative regimen outlined in my Smart Vaccine Alternatives course as well. Five months old is prime time for parvo susceptibility, as Mom's passive immunity will have worn off, so I'd not delay.
