Your last sentence speaks volumes.
When you hire a qualified homeopathic vet, much of this will go away, and surgery is no reason to stick with damaging "prevention" that your cats have been suffering from for a long time. It's also known as chronic disease, which conventional medicine has zero means to cure.

It may be the next generation or two where things will really change for you, so hang in there. But extricate yourself from the damage first. It gets worse the more you bring them in, as you've noticed.
