My 4yr old Bella (yellow lab) got a bump on her leg, it appeared rather sudden. An asperated showed cancer and the tumor was removed the next day. My vet said if he got he margins, no worries, but no more Apoquel because it's not recommended for dogs with cancer history. This made me wonder/suspect the Apoquel she'd been on for two years. Pathology came back, there were still cancer cells in the margins of the incision so I called the cancer dr..... Bella's new oncologist agreed the Apoquel likely contributed to the immune system allowing this Mass Cell Tumor to get going. I had been afraid of the high cost of an oncologist, but it was $150 initial and $65 follow-up. One of the first things she said was,"this is not going to take Bella". She explained everything, It was well worth her fee to hear this and understand what we're dealing with. It's a grade 1 Mass Cell Tumor. She is now considered at higher risk for future tumors and I have to check her often to catch any possible bumps, and pray never again. She prescribed Benadryl and Prednisone and diligence. Prednisone was $20 and her Dr is confident this will keep Bella Tumor free. A small fraction of the cost I was paying, $80 a month, to poison my dog with Apoquel. $1000 for surgery because of Apoquel.

I just found out today that 2 out of 3 of my dogs that I placed on Apoquel for only 6 weeks now have lymphoma. Strong coincidence?

Exactly! The drug manufacturers started including a note in the drugs package that if your dog has cancer, not to give it to them! Every living thing has cancer but our immune systems correct it all of the time, but Apoquel suppresses the immune system, preventing it from correcting the cancer. If our vet passed on the cancer warning in the drugs package, we would have stopped using it at once. But they never included it so our 6 year old baby is now dying of the terminal hemangiosarcoma cancer and theres only a slim hope of even slowing it down. This is nothing short of criminal, and because our dog doesn't have monetary value, no lawyer will take the case, and the vets are still selling this poison, without the warning today, and the vet board in Minnesota is joke. So please Spread the word, Apoquel causes cancer!!

I've had my dog on Apoquel since it first came out. I have had none of the problems all these other people are talking about. She is healthy, the only time I see her licking her paws is when she's been outside.
We had her tested, she has 27 allergies, quite a few food allergies and certain types of grass. I make her food, mostly veggies and either chicken liver or chicken breast. She has at times gotten yeast in the ear, which I take care of promptly. I get her hair cut short and bathe her often. She's a shih Tzu, so no long hair. I do cut the apoquel back to every other day in the fall and winter.
