Keep harping on your vet to purchase the VacciCheck or TiterCheck. They won't get them because they don't want to promote titering over vaccination. They tell me it's not cost effective and that they don't do random or unnecessary vaccination. What do you call it when you "booster" viral vaccinations just because it's three years since the last one, don't titer unless requested, and do not know how to read titer results? Ignorance and arrogance with maybe a little greed on top.
In the meanwhile, you can send the blood sample out yourself two-day priority via USPS wrapped in bubble wrap in a good box, with the completed form from your vet checking off the tests requested. Your vet should not charge you an arm and a leg for the blood draw. You can access the forms and pricing on the Hemopet website (Dr. Jean Dodds). The distemper/parvo titer is about $50.
